Retired Fire Capt. Walter Henry Taylor Funeral services for Retired Fire Capt. Walter Henry Taylor, 89, who passed away on October 7, 2013, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the North Jacksonville Baptist Church, with Rev. Chris Coram officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 PM at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Captain Taylor was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He retired from the Jacksonville Fire Dept. after 30 years of service. He was an active faithful member of the North Jacksonville Baptist Church and was also a member of Gideons International. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served 3 years in the South Pacific during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, the late Carnell K. Taylor; Later he found love again and is survived by his wife, Carmela Ethel Taylor; 1 son, Walter Clinton Taylor (Patricia); 1 step-son, Vince Rettini (Mica); 1 step-daughter, Donna Rettini Mallette (Ellison); 2 sisters, Vestel Smith and Doris Sieg; 1 brother, Marvin Taylor (Margaret); 3 grandchildren, Walter Bradley Taylor (Lisa), Kimberly Ray Taylor and Christi Rettini; 4 great-grandchildren, Zach, Dylan, Brandon, and Ashley; nieces, nephews, and many friends.
