Rev. Michael Cleare Boss Rev. Michael Cleare Boss, 73, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on August 6, 2012. A funeral service and joyful celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 11AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 5616 Atlantic Blvd with the Rt. Rev. John Howard celebrating and the Rev. Teresa Seagle officiating. A graduate of Landon High School class of 1956, Mr. Boss earned his bachelors degree in 1960 from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee where he was a member and president of the SAE fraternity. Upon graduation he attended Officers Candidate School and served his country as a communications officer in the U.S. Navy. In 1963 Rev. Boss returned to Sewanee where he earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1966 and served his first church in Pensacola, Florida as their assistant. Rev. Boss went on to serve churches in St. Augustine, Florida, Charleston, South Carolina, and Jacksonville. He retired from St. Pauls Episcopal Church, the parish where he grew up, was baptized, confirmed, and served as an acolyte. In retirement he served as Rector Emeritus at St. Pauls until his death. Rev. Boss was an avid boater, swimmer, softball player, gardener, and card player. Rev. Boss is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mrs. Nancy Davis Boss of Jacksonville, Florida; his daughter Laurie B. Clark (Anthony) of Orlando, Florida; sons, Michael W. Boss (Deborah) of Jacksonville and Aldrich L. Boss (Ann-Stewart) of Bethesda, Maryland; a brother William A. Boss of Chicago, Illinois; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Rev. Boss was predeceased by his brother A. Jay Boss. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6-8pm on Friday August 10, 2012 at the George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard South, Jacksonville, FL 32216.
