Mr. Richard Raymond Addison, age 89 of Keystone Heights passed away at his home on Saturday, June 27, 2026. He was born on May 27, 1937, in Tampa to Cecil and Lottie (Drawdy) Addison.
Mr. Addison spent many happy years in Keystone Heights where he built a life that revolved around his passions and his family. Prior to retirement he employed many years in the state prison system working in many capacities and retiring in the management field. However, in his free time he loved fishing and carpentry, and at one time owned and operated an upholstery business out of his home. Mr. Addison was a true handyman, capable of transforming raw materials into beautiful creations. From building a johnboat for fishing trips to crafting cabinets for family homes, his woodworking skills earned him a reputation as the go-to guy for any home project.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife 66 years Sara (Starling) Addison. His survivors are his children Sharon Roark of Keystone Heights and Rick Addison of Orange Park; his brother, Cecil (Martha) Addison of Gainesville, and a brother-in-law, Lamar Starling of Lake Butler. Mr. Addison was known as "Papa" to his grandsons, Byron Roark, Darren Roark, and great-grandchildren, Odin Roark, and Cade Roark.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, with Rev. Bobby Epps officiating. Interment will be at the Keystone Heights Cemetery.
