Richard F. Coleman

Richard F. Coleman born April 17, 1934 passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida on 10/28/20.He is survived by his children; Michael Coleman and Micki Schanley, grandsons Richard, Nicholas and Mitchell Schanley and his sister Ms. Judith Dooley. He was married for 57 years to his wife, Yoo Shim Coleman who proceeded him in death in 2019.He was born in Charlotte, NC and attended Lenoir Rhyne University. He interrupted his college education to enter the military in 1954. He served as a Chief Warrant Officer in the US Army Corp of Engineers for 20 years until his retirement in 1974. He served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and earned the Bronze Star Medal.Upon his retirement he continued to work for various State and County agencies in NC to support his family and put his children through college.He moved to Gainesville in 1991.
