Richard Compton

MrMr. Richard Compton age 80, of Florahome passed away at his home Sunday, July 29, 2018 following an extended illness. He was born July 29, 1938 in Martin County, Kentucky to the late Alvis and Sadie Compton. Following high school graduation, Richard joined the United States Armys 82nd Airborne Division. After he completed four years in the armed forces he began working for Eaton Corporation in Ohio as a millwright until his retirement. Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 202 and Am vets Post 86 both in Keystone Heights, and in his spare time he enjoyed watching Alabama Football, Kentucky Wildcats Basketball and being outdoors fishing. Richard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda (Hargett) Compton of Florahome; son Richard (Robin) Compton of Grand Junction, Iowa. Also left behind are his brothers Ray (Faith) Compton of Temple, Texas, Alvis Compton of Florahome and a sister, Leona Nelson of West Virginia along with three grandchildren James, Matthew and Karen.
