Richard William McCallum, 95, Died on Thursday April 4, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Lake City, FL.Richard was born June 8, 1917 in Fife Shire, Scotland, to Archibald and Susannah Walker McCallum.He was in the U. S. Army serving during the Battle of the Bulge; He obtained the rank of Captain, but was awarded in his retirement the rank of Major. Mr. McCallum was a longtime member of North Central Baptist Church, and was a Sunday School Teacher until just a short time ago, when his health prevented him from attending. He was also an ordained Minister with the Independent Fundamental Churches of America.Richard, married Mary Elizabeth Dyson almost 38 years ago, and they lived in Gainesville together since 1975.He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers, James and Archibald.Richard is survived by his Loving wife Mary, son William (Joy) McCallum, grandchildren Mary Beth (Bill) Payne, and Cynthia and Kristen McCallum, great grandchildren, Katelyn and Billy Payne, Sister, Mary Vecelus, his step son, Henry (Debra) McLamb, 2 step daughters, Sherrill Canter, and Carol (Jerry) Avery, Numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, a multitude of nieces and nephews.Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Meadows Funeral Home Chapel, the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
