Mr. Richard "Rick" Edwin James age 57 of Starke passed Thursday, October 16, 2025, in Gainesville following a brief illness. He was born on December 15, 1967, in Callahan to the late George William and Lorraine (Blalock) James. Rick lived a full life dedicated to his family and work. Rick proudly and honorably served in the United States Army M1-A1 Abrams gunner and driver and was recognized for being top in their platoon. Known for his warm spirit, he spent many years as a maintenance worker for Darling Enterprises, where he was appreciated by colleagues and friends alike. Rick loved being outdoors hunting, fishing, and just spending time with his family.

Rick was a devoted father to his sons, Michael and Marshall, and a proud grandfather to Talan Hunter James, Brooklyn Jessie James, Dayton William James, and Maddison Kathleen Brown. He recently faced the loss of his wife, Angela "Angie" Michelle James, just two months prior, after 31 wonderful years of marriage. He will be deeply missed by his father-in-law, William "Pop-pop" Thomas Stickel, Jr., and his siblings: Barbara (David) Terrell, Lori (Bryan) King, and George (Elaine) James. He leaves behind a cherished circle of extended family and friends who will carry his memory with them.
