Ricky E. Thompson

Ricky E. Thompson of Starke, a beloved son, husband, father, friend, and Pilar of the community, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on April 4, 1957, in Starke, Florida, Ricky lived his entire life in the town he cherished. Ricky was a proud retiree, having dedicated 38 years of his life to the City of Starke, serving in multiple capacities, as an elected official for eight years and leaving a lasting impact on his community. His spirit for service was matched only by his passion for music, as he graced stages throughout the years, playing the pedal steel guitar and various other instruments with several bands. He was the proud co-owner of the local restaurant Downtown Grill, where many gathered to enjoy good food and live music. His love for music was a joyful constant in his life, bringing him closer to friends and family alike.

Preceding him in death was his beloved father Kenneth "Buddy" Thompson, and his mother and father in-law, Roy and Janet "Nan" Nazworth.

He is survived by his loving wife, Chrissy, who he cherished more than anything. Ricky was a devoted father to his son, JJ Thompson, and his daughters, Carrie Thompson and Courtney (Michael) Williamson, and he took immense pride in being a grandfather to his five amazing grandchildren: Journie, Cade, Brayson, Veda, and Luna. He was a cherished brother to Vicky (Otha) Miller, Kenny (Nora) Thompson, and Randy (Lori) Thompson, and he will be deeply missed by his mother, Helen Thompson. Ricky's warmth, kindness, and friendly demeanor made him a friend to everyone he met. He had a way of making people feel valued and loved, creating memories that will linger in the hearts of those who knew him. Ricky leaves behind a legacy of love for family, passion for music, and unwavering commitment to his community. His memory will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing him. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel.
