Rita Pinkston Butner, 82, was born on September 17, 1941 in Jacksonville, Florida was a lifelong resident, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her son, Arnold Broughman III. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Ed Butner who was always by her side. 1 son, Wayne Broughman (Talena); and 1 daughter Renee Ross. 10, grandchildren, Brandi Bailey Perez (John Paul), Joe Ross III (Megan), Hannah Ross (William), Kaleb Cavite, Kylee Cavite, Malyssa Graves (Cody), Melanie Broughman, Tara Broughman, Emma Broughman, and Tony Sisk (Crystal); 18 great-grandchildren, Elysia Bailey Perez, John Paul Bailey Perez, Brayden Bailey Perez, Rylee Ross, Weston Ross, Lainey Ross, Joseph Ross IV, Tristin Broughman, Levy Broughman, Kelton Broughman, Chase Morris, Colton Morris, Austin Graves, Brice Graves, and McKenna Byrd, Mackenzi Sisk, Taylor Sisk, and Lil Tony Sisk. Rita was a lifelong member of Woodland Acres Community Church, that her late father, Rev. Harvey Pinkston founded. Mrs. Butner was a graduate of Terry Parker High School class of 1959. She enjoyed playing piano, loved her family, and special times with her family. She loved cookouts, music, and birthdays with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held in her memory on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard South, Jacksonville, Florida 32216.
