Rita Louise Cowen

Mrs. Rita Louise Cowen 75 of Keystone Heights passed away at her home, Monday, January 25, 2021. She was born May 17, 1945, in Valley, Nebraska to the late Hugh and Margaret (Danielson) Rhea. Mrs. Cowen received her BA degree from the University of Florida where she retired as the Director of Academic Personnel Office following 35 years of employment. She was also a member of the Keystone United Methodist Church and served on the Board for United Way, March of Dimes, Peaceful Paths and Piolet Club. Mrs. Cowen traveled with her husband visiting and camping at the KOAs in every state except North Dakota. She was known in her community as a "Giver" by adopting families around Thanksgiving and Christmas just to make sure they didnt go without. Mrs. Cowen leaves behind her loving and dedicated husband of almost 47 years Cecil Cowen, Jr. of Keystone Heights and their son Bret Hugh Cowen (Desiree) of St. Augustine along with a brother Boyd Rhea of Lake City. She was also lovingly called "Grandma" by Kira. Memorial services for Mrs. Cowen will be held at a later date.
