Mr. Robert Hovey Bell, age 90, of Melrose passed away at his home, on November 24, 2025. He was born November 23, 1935, in Starke to Jack and Emma "Louise" (Edwards) Bell. Mr. Bell earned his BA degree from Harding University and served in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard. He later became a minister and retired from Keystone Heights Church of Christ where he served for over 40 years. His community involvement included the VFW, American Legion Post 202, preaching, and teaching. He enjoyed traveling, building WWII model airplanes, fishing, was an avid military historian, and studying the Bible. He was also a proud member of the NRA. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son James Robert Bell and wife Patsy Carolyn Carlton Bell. Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife Rebecca J. (Newman) Bell of Melrose and his daughter Joy Carol Bell Hurewitz (Martin) of Gainesville. He was lovingly called "Paw-Paw" by grandchildren Caleb Golson of Keystone Heights and Larian Golson of Gainesville, in addition to 7 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life for Mr. Bell will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
