Bob Canady, 75, passed away on March 24, 2009. He was born on Oct. 28, 1933 to Lottie Vann Canady and Leon Bryant Canady in Jacksonville, FL. He attended Jackson High School and graduated from Landon High School, earning a scholarship to play football at Georgia Military College, Macon Ga. After graduating from Mercer University, Macon, GA in 1957, he was commissioned in the Army and served 2 tours in Vietnam with the 2/16th First Infantry Division and First Air Calvary. He attained the rank of Major before leaving the service. After Vietnam, he was part owner of Canady Motors, a VW dealership in Tampa, FL, with his brother Leon. He then moved the family to Anchorage, Alaska to work for Alyeska Pipeline and British Petroleum. At retirement he started and co-owned Keystone Building Center in Keystone Heights, FL. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Wheeler Canady and his two sons and one daughter: Glenn Canady of Navarre, FL, Lori Canady Camp and her husband Rob of Black Mountain, NC, and Mark Canady and wife Stephanie of Austin, TX. His grandchildren are Liam and Caitriona Camp. He also leaves behind a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and a large group of friends. Visitation will be at Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Thursday March 26, 2009 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Memorial Service will be held Friday March 27th at Freedom Baptist Church, Hwy 21 Keystone Heights, FL with viewing at 10am and funeral at 11am.
