Robert Floyd, age 88 of Jacksonville, passed away on Tuesday August 7, 2018 after a lengthy battle with heart disease. Robert was born April 1, 1930 to Lem & Lizzie Floyd in Coffee County, Georgia. He graduated from Ambrose High School in 1948. Robert came to Jacksonville in 1959 and spent a 50 plus year career as a construction superintendent in the Jacksonville area.A memorial service to celebrate his life and rejoice in his "Going Home" will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday August 11, 2018 in Southpoint Baptist Church, 3335 Tiger Hole Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32216, with Senior Pastor Terry Collins, Associate Pastor Jake White & Minister of Music Lynn Atkinson leading the service.Robert loved his savior Jesus Christ, his wife Myrtle, his family and his church where he enjoyed serving as Chairman of Deacons and leading the Usher Team. He also loved being part of the building team as he watched Southpoint Baptist Church grow over the years. Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Myrtle Floyd and his children Pam Jones (late Ray Jones), Teri Blackman (Douglas) & Jay Stephens (Rosemary). He is also survived by his two cherished grandchildren Kayla Jones & Evan Blackman and by his younger brother Donald Floyd (Shelia). He was preceded in death by his parents and by his older brother & sister-in-law, Cecil & Beulah Floyd. Robert will be missed by his family, church family, extended family and his many friends whom he loved.
