Mr. Robert "Bob" Brown Kerr, 90 of Green Cove Springs, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019. Mr. Kerr was born January 6, 1929 in Rutherford, Tennessee to parents Alvin Brown and Nannie (Pope) Kerr. Bob retired as an Electrician's Mates 1st class with the United States Navy and was stationed at the Navy base in Green Cove Springs. In 1962 he served on a ship that was part of the Cuban missile blockade. Dad received a letter of accommodation for his bravery in putting out a ship fire during his naval career. He retired from the Clay County School Board in 1990 where he was instrumental in maintenance of county schools and new construction of schools. He was active in the community, initiating a project to build the pavilion at the Spring Park. Bob enjoyed volunteering at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and in events with his children with the Clay High School Band, and coaching little league baseball, farming, fishing, and smoking cigars. His parents preceded him in death and, brothers, Daymond L. Kerr, Harold T. Kerr, Cecil Glynn Kerr, and sisters Margaret L. (Kerr) Workman, Janie S. (Kerr) Leeke, and Tresia N. (Kerr) Jenkins. Bob has one surviving brother Carl Dwight Kerr. Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Conchetta "Connie" (McMahon) Kerr of Green Cove Springs, sons, Robert Bevans-Kerr (Janece) of St. Johns, FL , Ralph W. Kerr of San Benito, TX, Alvin Ray Kerr (Cynthia) of Gainesville, FL, John S. Kerr (Margarita) of Altamonte Springs, FL, and David A. Kerr (Tina) of Green Cove Springs, daughter, Glenda L. Thompson (Charles) of Green Cove Springs. Also surviving him are his grandchildren, Erin, Katherine, Nathan, Samuel, Gregory, Robert, Margaret, Joshua, Christopher, Samantha, Sarah, Emily, Zachary, Travis, Megan, Kevin, and Isabella, and great grandchildren, Wesley, Adelaide, Mark, Max, Ralph, Violet, David, Charles, Natalie, Romeo, Angela, Rachel, Christina, and Charles. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (Mission Church Branch), 207 Palmetto Avenue, Green Cove Springs, with Father Luke McLoughlin officiating. Burial will follow in the Penney Farms Cemetery.
