Robert "Bob" Martin Mason

Mr. Robert "Bob" M. Mason age 88, of Earleton passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 in Jacksonville following a long illness. He was born in Etowah, Tennessee on April 8, 1929 to the late Martin and Rosine (Caywood) Mason and had retired as a Chief Warrant Officer from the National Guard. Prior to his second retirement, Mr. Mason worked almost forty years with the United States Postal Service and retired as a Postal Inspector. In 1987 he and his wife moved to Earleton from Chicago, Illinois. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he served in the past as Deacon, Treasurer, and enjoyed playing his accordion while his wife accompanied the choir on the organ. Mr. Mason loved helping others and he also had a knack for fixing computers. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ellen Mason and his brother, Billy Eugene "Gene" Mason. Mr. Masons survivors are his three children; Robert Steven "Steve" Mason (Kathy) of Bradenton, Deanna Louise Mason-Dee (Ernie) of Orland Park, Illinois, and Paula Mason Schubert of Jacksonville. Also left behind is one brother, George David Mason (Martha) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Viewing for Mr. Mason will be at Trinity Baptist Church, Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 18, 2017 in Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor James Peoples and Pastor Scott Stanland officiating.
