Robert B. Montana

Mr. Robert B. Montana age 90, of Melrose passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Haven Hospice E. T. York Care Center in Gainesville. He was born on August 19, 1927 in Miami to Anthony Barreca and Margaret Giacotti.Bob was a WWII veteran in the U. S. Marine Corps and a Police Officer with the City of Miami for 22 years before retiring in 1973. He was a member of FOP Lodge #20 in Miami. Bob was a member of Allapattah Baptist Church in Miami, and then Miami Shores Baptist Church, also in Miami. He has been a resident of Melrose for the past 29 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Keystone Heights.Bob is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Mary AnnTrevisani. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Phyllis B. Montana of Melrose; daughter, Robyn Montana of Gainesville; brothers,Frank Barreca of Dunnellon and Tony Barreca (Jacque) of Ocala; grandchildren, Jennifer Smith (Matt) and David Justice; great grandchildren, Madison, Colby, and Abigail Smith; along with numerous other family members and friends.Family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5,2017 at First Baptist Church of Keystone Heights. Funeral services willbegin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Daniel Findley officiating.
