Funeral services for Robert Ray Spann, 78, will be held at 10:00a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S., with Rev. Kenny St. John of Flint Reformed Baptist Church, Albany, GA officiating. Burial will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 where the family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. until 7:00p.m. Born Sept. 9, 1939 in Samson, Alabama to Robert and Georgia Spann, Mr. Spann died July 28, 2018 in Jacksonville, FL. He served as a Spec 5 in the United States Army and was a retired executive from Independent Life Insurance Co. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Diane Elizabeth Wunder Spann of Jacksonville; two sons, Christopher Shane (Jennifer) Spann of Saint Johns, FL and Paul Weston Spann of Auburn, AL; a step-son, Richard Randall (Angelique) Reid of Jacksonville; two sisters, Annette Ogburn of Niceville, FL and Angeline Spann of Samson, AL; and 7 grandchildren, Brooke Reid, Emily Masters, Matthew Spann, Tyler Spann, Brooklyn Spann, Addilyn Spann and Mason Reid.
