Mr. Robert "Bob" Windgassen, 69, of Keystone Heights passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Oak View Rehab in Orange Park. He was born August 3, 1946 to the late Herbert and Anita (Riehl) Windgassen in Hackensack, New Jersey and grew up in Gilbertsville, New York. Mr. Windgassen served in the United States Navy and became a resident of Keystone Heights in 1988 moving from St. Pete. He received his B.S. degree from Mohawk Valley Community College in Suny, New York which led to his career as a RN and nursing home administrator before retiring from NEFSH. Being involved in the community was very important to Bob; he was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Starke, Masons, York Rite, Knights Templar, Shriners and Scottish Rite. He enjoyed flying, scuba diving, coin collecting and his various animals. His wife Joyce had preceded him in death in 2014 and his son, Philip had also preceded him in death in 1987. Survivors are his daughter, Ericka Brown (Kurt); two grandchildren, Michael and Danielle Brown and one great granddaughter, Penelope Brandon. Also left behind is his sister Heidi and brother, Gilbert; nieces, Stacy and Michele; great nephew, Mason as well as many cousins. The family will receive friends Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015 in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel, from 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 5, 2015 in the First Presbyterian Church of Starke with Rev. Gary Hardesty officiating.
