Obituary

Rodney Phillip Hall of Starke, passed away on September 12, 2024 at 7:20 PM, in the presence of his wife, sons and grandchildren at the age of 93. He was born November 26, 1930 in Bradford County. He was the son of Clyde and Laura (Joyner) Hall. Laura came from Georgia to teach School, teaching in Duval, Clay, and Bradford Counties. Clyde was a third generation Floridian from Alachua County who came to Bradford County as a child and became a farmer. Rodney Hall had 2 sisters named Marjorie (Hall) Packham, now deceased and Carrie Mae (Hall) Ritch, now deceased. Mr. Hall married Janice (Dansby) Hall from Starke who was born in Ozark, AL. Rodney and Janice have two sons: Stephen P. Hall (Becky) of Keystone Heights, and Richard D. Hall (Lorene) of Kingsley Lake. In addition to his wife and sons, Mr. Hall is survived by his Grandchildren: Christopher Hall (Brianna) of Ocala, Daniele Beckham (Brennan) of Starke, Tiffany Rhoden (Preston) of Keystone Heights, Stephanie Reed (Robert) of Starke, Step-Granddaughter Nicole Canipe (Richard) of Starke, Great Grandchildren: Curtis Reed, Nora Reed, Adalynn Rhoden, Blake Beckham, Rylee Beckham, Liam Hall; Step-Great Grandchildren: Wyatt Canipe and Josie Canipe. Mr. Hall served on the Bradford County School Board for 24-Years and was the Board Chairman for many of those years. He also served as a Vice-Chairman of the Florida School Board Association. He was employed by the Du Pont Corporation for 33 Years as a Surveyor, Production Supervisor, Employee Relations Supervisor and Training Supervisor. Rodney retired from the U.S. Army and served over 41 years with the U.S. Army Reserves and Florida Army National Guard. During those years he spent considerable time on active duty. After retirement from Dupont and the Army, Mr. Hall was employed by the Florida Department of Military Affairs as a Museum Design Supervisor and Museum Curator. He is of Christian faith and a long-time member of Hope Baptist Church located in his community of Theressa. Beginning in 1947, he served as the church song leader, training union superintendent, Sunday school teacher, grounds committee member, and building committee member.The family will receive friends at the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel of Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Hope Baptist Church at 11:00 am.
