Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rodney W. Morgan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world peacefully at his home in Gainesville, Florida, due to natural causes. Born on July 3, 1946, in Xena, Ohio, Rodney lived a life marked by love, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

Rodney served his country in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1970 and fought during the Tet Offensive. He was a dedicated biomedical engineer, contributing significantly to the healthcare industry and improving the lives of many. He held an associate's degree and spent his career using his knowledge and skills to build and fix things, always eager to lend a hand to those in need. Outside of work, he was known for his passion for golf, motorcycling, and celebrating life's special moments with family and friends. Rodney's laughter was infectious, and he had a knack for making those around him smile.

Rodney cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Esther Morgan, and his daughter, Tara Browning-Morgan. He also leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren: Mara Garnsey, Alexander Padgett, Michael Morgan, Ethan Morgan, Logan Castlen, Charlee Castlen, and Infinity Osteen, as well as great-grandchildren Jaden Porter and Jhavaylee Castlen. Rodney is also survived by his siblings: brother Robert Morgan, sister Marilyn Knisley, brother Roger Morgan, and sister Jeneene Morgan-Gibbs.

A true family man, Rodney loved hosting cookouts and making every gathering a celebration of togetherness, often reminding everyone that family was everything to him. His spirit will be eternally ingrained in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rodney's funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on October 6, 2025, at 4200 NW 39th Ave., Gainesville, FL 32606, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and celebrate his life. Following the service, the burial will take place at the same location. We invite all those who knew and loved him to join us in remembering the incredible man Rodney was and the joy he brought into our lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Veterans Medical Center in his memory, reflecting his dedication to serving others and his love for his country. Rodney's love for life, commitment to his family, and tenacity in everything he did will be missed but never forgotten. Let us honor him by embracing the love, joy, and laughter he so generously shared throughout his life.
