Roger W. Painter, 87, of Jacksonville, FL, son of George and Dorothy passed away on August 24, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Joan, sons Edward (Wendy), Steven (Stella) and George, sister Nancy Youngblood Venice, FL, brother Dr. Richard G. Painter (Debbie) New Orleans, LA, grandchildren Katherine, Margaret, Kayleigh (Garret), Mae, Jason and Alan. Roger was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. He worked for Painter Poultry until it was sold in 1971. He returned to the University of Florida in 1973 and completed his degree in accounting. He was in private practice as a CPA for 10 years before joining W. W. Gay for 27 years as the CFO. Roger was passionate about his family and the Florida Gators. Family gatherings brought him joy and he spent his retirement years traveling, reading and discovering new wines. He was a member of South Jax Rotary and was a Paul Harris Fellow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mayo Clinic. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. with Rev. Emily J. Knight of Riverside Park United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Ceme.
