Roland Thomas Stern

Roland Thomas Stern age 75 of Starke, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Gainesville. He was born in Starke on July 31, 1941 to the late Harry A. and Leona (Coleman) Stern. He graduated from Lake City Forest Ranger School. In 1985, he became part of Great South Timber and Lumber Inc. In 2015 he retired as President. He was an active member and deacon at Kingsley Lake Baptist Church. As everyone knows, Roland loved working, especially on the farm. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Stern, Ona Jacobson, Roy Coleman and his son in law, Curtis Crawford. Roland is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucinda (Epperson) and their two daughters; Ronda Crawford of Starke and Robin (Steve) Knox of Windermere; a sister, Ina Mott of Brooker along with grandchildren: Ashley and Derek Browning, Amber and Hunter Reichert, Austin and Katelyn Crawford, Marcus Knox, Kevin Knox, Charlie Knox and great granddaughter, Andi Reichert. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Kingsley Lake Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Rodriguez, Former Pastors Dan Hughes and Zeb Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Kingsley Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Kingsley Lake Baptist Church Building Fund, 6289 Mary Dot Lane, Starke, FL 32091.
