Ronald H. 'Poppy' Brohl

Ronald H. Brohl, 64 of Jacksonville, passed away on Monday January 25, 2021 at St. Vincents Medical Center Southside in Jacksonville.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday February 1, 2021 in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S. with Officiating Minister, Richard E. Carney. Interment will follow in Chapel Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday January 31st from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.Ron, also known as "Poppy" to his family, was a Jacksonville native. He was born here on October 27, 1956 to H.O. "Bill" Brohl & Catherine "Kay" (Tatum) Brohl. Ron was a graduate of Englewood High School, Class of 1974, where he played on the basketball team among other interests. Ron worked for Publix supermarkets in Jacksonville for over 27 years. Following his retirement from Publix, Ron followed his passion of crafting custom woodwork. Among his creations, he made much of the furniture in his home & the homes of his family. Ron also enjoyed the outdoors; he was an avid surfer in his youth, he enjoyed riding motorcycles & dirt bikes and spending time with his dogs. Ron was also a very faithful & avid Florida Gator football & basketball fan.Ron "Poppy" was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Debi (Sams) Brohl; his daughter, Erin; his son, Daniel; his grandson, Aston; his sisters Judy, Vickie & Tina and by his 2 special friends, his dogs Dixie & Harley.
