Ronald James Parker

Ronald James Parker, known as Ron to friends and Jim to family, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2017. Parker was employed as a bus driver for RTS for 20 years. He came to Gainesville in 1994 after his parents moved here..Parker's father was in the US Army, so his early life was spent living in different parts of the US and overseas, including Okinawa. He spent much of his youth in Salina, Kansas and graduated from Kansas University with a business degree. He later moved to South Florida to join his brother Jon Parker in a roofing business. He is survived by his brother Richard Parker of South Carolina; sisters Libby Parker of Gainesville and Sarah Bailey of Salina, Kansas. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 11:00 am, at the Church of the Mediator, 501 NE Cholokka Boulevard, Micanopy, FL 32667.
