Mr. Ronald "Ron" Bowen Waites, age 85 of Keystone Heights passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness. He was born on July 30, 1940, in Jacksonville to the late William and Agnes (Padgett) Waites. Mr. Waites lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure, making his way to Keystone Heights, where he called home.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Waites was employed with Ryder Trucking company as an office clerk where he spent many fruitful years contributing his talents and hard work. But above all his accomplishments, he cherished his family. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed days on the lake, whether it was waterskiing, fishing, or golfing. He had a knack for telling jokes that could light up any room and was known for his vibrant spirit on the dance floor. He even had a brief moment of fame when he was offered a job at Cypress Gardens and won several fishing tournaments, showcasing his competitive yet fun-loving nature. Ron was also deeply committed to his community, actively engaging with the youth at the Community Church of Keystone Heights. Mr. Waites is survived by his beloved wife, Louise (Torbett) Waites and his children: Rhonda Waites, Lisa (Jimmy) Umstattd, Bo (Ann) Waites, Debbie Hall, Cindy Ridaught, and Carol Still, along with stepsons Richard Woodard and Robert Woodard. He was lovingly called "Big Daddy" or "Papa" by 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom adored him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rons life at a celebration of life on November 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Community Church of Keystone Height, 345 SE Palmetto Ave., Keystone Heights FL. 32656.  Following the celebration of life there will be a lunch at the church for family and friends.
