Obituary

Mrs. Rosalie Snetro Bond passed away at her home in Gainesville, Florida on Friday, September 27th, 2024, attended by her family, as were her wishes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Bond and her six siblings. She was 98 years old.Rosalie was born in New Britain, Connecticut, where she lived her early life. She trained as a nurse at the New Brition General Hospital School of Nursing, where she found the professional calling that guided much of her adult life. Expecting to join the war effort upon graduation, the war thankfully ended and Rosalie entered civilian practice in 1947. Marriage and children followed and Rosalie stepped back from nursing until family responsibilities eased. Rosalie reentered nursing in 1969 and practiced at the University of Florida Student Infirmary where she made many lifelong friends, loved serving the students and continued her professional development by becoming a Nurse Practitioner as that specialty was developed.Rosalie was a people person and very committed to family, friends, and the organizations she joined. During her long residence in Gainesville, which she and her husband relocated to from Miami in 1965, Rosalie gave of her time to the New Comers Club, the Gainesville Garden Club (Daisy Circle), the Gainesville Bridge Club, and her church.Rosalie is survived by an extended clan of Bond/Snetro progeny including her children Carol Bond Hipsley and Robert R. Bond, her grandchildren Robert Jaysa Espenship and Carol Nicolle Johnson, son-in-law Dennis Hipsley and his son, Brett Hipsley.Recognition must be given to Nancy Spikes, CNA and Haven Hospice, who helped Rosalie remain in her home.Independent, generous, and capable of deep and welcoming love until her death, she will be missed.Donations to the Green House Church of Gainesville or Haven Hospice can be made in leu of Flowers.
