Rosalie A.
Stone
Apr 19, 1936 — Feb 14, 2026
Rosalie Stone, 89, of Gainesville passed away on February 14, 2026 at Haven Hospice.
Rosalie grew up in a family of six children, with parents Elbert and Roberta Stewart. She married her high school sweetheart, Larry Stone; they were married 61 years until his death in 2014. During their years together they lived in six states, enjoying many happy years in Florida. They traveled extensively with their Airstream group for years, even hosting the many trailers on their property in Archer. They traveled to all but 5 US states, including two extensive trips to Alaska. They traveled internationally to Europe, China, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Upon retirement they spent summers in the mountains in Colorado.
Rosalie was surrounded by her children in her last months; daughter Beverly Stone of Carrollton, TX, son Doug Stone of Corpus Christi, TX, and daughter Keri Stone of Gainesville, FL. Doug's wife Sita and all six grandchildren were also able to spend time with her in her final months: Morgan Chardi (and great granddaughter Alice Orton), Kyle Chardi and wife Martina Kerndl; Kalani Huebner and husband Matt (along with great granddaughter Holly Huebner), Savannah Stone; Sarah Stone and Emma Stone.
Of Rosalie's six siblings, one sister remains, Sue Caviness (husband Don). She remained close with sisters-in-law Loa and Jackie Stewart. She was close with her siblings, and they worked together to hold family reunions every 4-5 years over a span of the last 50 years. They kept family letters going for years, but in recent years emailed and texted regularly.
Rosalie always enjoyed playing cards and dominos. She taught all of her grandchildren Hand and Foot, as well as holding classes at her retirement community. In healthier days, she enjoyed antiquing, thrift shops, and always enjoyed a nice drive to see the sights.
Rosalie will be greatly missed by her family, but the last months were difficult for her, and they are glad she is at peace. The tombstone chosen by Rosalie and children when Larry passed included wedding rings with the inscription "Together Forever", as well as the inscription "You Filled Our Hearts With Love". She was devoted to family, and they all felt her love and support throughout their lives.
