Mr. Roy LaMance Turknett, age 78, a resident of Keystone Heights since 1965 died Saturday, September 17, 2011 in St. Augustine.He was born on March 14, 1933 in Jacksonville, the son of the late Roy L. and Myrtice (Gorman) Turknett. He earned his BSME from the University of Florida, where he was a proud member of Kappa Alpha (KA) fraternity, and a life long gator fan.Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Roy Turknett Engineers in Jacksonville, Florida for over 45 years.He was a long time member of the Community Church of Keystone Heights. A member of the Keystone Heights Rotary Club, and past President of the West Jacksonville Rotary Club, where he was a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. He was inducted into the Grand Guards at the University of Florida and was a member of ASHRAE Engineering Society.He is survived by his wife Frances (Hadley) Turknett to whom he was married to for 57 years. His son: Larry (Cindi) Turknett of Fleming Island. His daughter: Cindy (Bobby) Hayes of Keystone Heights. One sister: Gladys (Jack) Hogan of Orange Park. He is also survived by four Grandchildren: Brooklyn Hayes of San Clemente, CA, Brandon Hayes of St. Petersburg, Trent Turknett and Tyler Turknett both of Fleming Island.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning at Eleven oclock at the Community Church of Keystone Heights, 345 SE Palmetto Ave., Keystone Heights with Pastor Rob Morford officiating, followed by the burial in Keystone Heights Cemetery. Viewing will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
