Ruby L. Houze Ruby L. Houze, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday November 8, 2013. She was born in Roanoke, Alabama on July 2, 1921 to Charles and Mattie Tittle, the youngest of 8 children. Ruby has been a Jacksonville resident for over 70 years and she was a longtime member of Regency Church of God. Ruby was a talented seamstress and cook; and she was well known for her delicious, homemade cornbread and biscuits. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years, Jesse Paul Houze; 2 sons, Jesse Paul Houze, Jr. & Charles H. Houze; a grandson, Philip Witten II; a brother and 5 of her sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Linda G. Wishart (Jim) & Emmie J. Witten (Van); 6 grandchildren, Vicki, David, James, Christopher, Amy & Leanna; 12 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren and a sister, Ethel Barron. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday November 16, 2013 at Regency Church of God, 1677 Southside Blvd., with Pastor John V. Morgan & Rev. Steven Kick officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday November 15 at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd., S.
