Russell Thomas
Dikmak
Sep 28, 1960 — Apr 17, 2026
Russell (Rusty) was born in 1960 and grew up in Boston, where he attended the Boston Public Schools. As a child, he loved spending time outdoors, watching wrestling and the WWF, and learning about gardening from his father. After high school, he continued his education at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
As an adult, Russell carried on his love of gardening, taking pride in planting flowers and vegetables each year. He cherished family gatherings with his cousins and treasured time spent with his many nieces and nephews.
Russell was thoughtful, never missing a birthday and faithfully sending greeting cards to family members, along with thoughtful gifts for his younger nieces and nephews. He stayed in close touch with relatives, especially during the holidays. Deeply sentimental about family, he enjoyed looking through generations of family photographs and sharing & reflecting about stories of family history.
During his working years, Russell served as a Corrections Officer at Massachusetts Correctional Institution in Norfolk, MA until his retirement. Afterward, he relocated to Florida.
In his years in Florida, Russell enjoyed friendships he made at a local gym and quiet time at home with his beloved cat, Simba.
Though he made a home in Florida, he was always a Boston sports fan at heart. He was passionate about the Boston Bruins, Bobby Orr, the Red Sox, New England changing-of-the-seasons, as well as New England seafood.
Russell will be remembered for his thoughtfulness, loyalty to family, and the warmth he shared with those who knew and loved him.
