S. John Folks, Jr. ascended to the Glory, Love and Peace of our Lord's House on February 7, 2012.John was born in Montebrook, FL, graduated form Williston High School, the University of Florida and served his country with distinction in WWII and Korean.His tenacity and overwhelming love for Laura Mae Downing was rewarded by their marriage on March 9, 1947. As a Husband, that none could equal, as a Father, he was his children's ideal, and his life has blessed us all. His close friends and family knew his dry wit, somewhat stubborn nature and his immeasurable Love for Laura and his children.John was a Christian, confirmed by his acts more than his words. He was a member, with Laura, at Westside Baptist Church in Gainesville, Fl.John is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Laura, their four children and three grandchildren.A memorial service will be held on February 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Westside Baptist Church, 10000 West Newberry Road, Gainesville, FL 323606. Visitation will be one hour prior at the Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations, in John's name, be made to Haven Hospice and/or Wounded Warriors.
