Sammie Killgore Burden, 85, of Gainesville passed away December 3, 2011 at home. She was born in Highland Home, Alabama on March 17, 1926 toRuth and Phonso Killgore. She was a graduate of Peabody College which later became affiliated with Vanderbilt University and is now known as the Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, George Stanley Burden.She is survived by her son Dr. Dan Burden and daughter-in-law Betsy of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, her grandchildren Cody and Lauren Burden; and son Dr. David Burden and daughter-in-law Debbie of Ada, Oklahoma, and her grandchildren Melissa Church, husband Byron, and Natalie Burden.She is also survived by sister Stephanie Carr of Searcy, Arkansas, and sister Jean Ross and brother-in-law Louis Ross, of Sparta, Tennessee, and 9 nieces and nephews.
