Sandra Taylor Alphonse

Sandra Taylor Alphonse of Green Cove Springs, Florida passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at St. Vincents Medical Center - Clay County, Florida. She was born on January 1, 1945 in Burlington, NC and was the daughter of the late Margaret Coley Taylor (1996) and Edward Benjamin Taylor (2002). Her brother is Edward Marvin Taylor of Nashville, Tennessee. Mrs. Alphonse was a high school graduate of Clay High School, Green Cove Springs, Florida and Florida Southern College, Lakeland, Florida where she received her bachelors degree. After college she moved to Broward County Florida to become the assistant county extension agent for home economics where she provided instruction to various community groups on food and nutrition and sewing. She also served as the coordinator of 4-H club work. After nine years Mrs. Alphonse left to become a high school home economics teacher with Broward County Schools. In 1985 she moved back to north Florida to teach home economics and child care at Ridgeview High School in the Clay County Public Schools. She retired in 2011 while teaching child care and foods and nutrition at Bannerman Alternative School. She is the mother of Edward Eugene Alphonse, Orange Park, Florida and Catherine Margaret Louise Alphonse, Green Cove Springs, Florida. She is also grandmother to Christopher Standley, Emma, Sara and Edward Benjamin (Buddy) Alphonse. Since retirement Sandra has been involved in transporting and supporting the activities of her grandchildren, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and crafting. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening in her yard and participating in activities at the senior citizens center in Green Cove Springs.
