Obituary

Mrs. Sandy M. Schmidt age 56, of Starke passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville. She was born on July 15, 1957 in Starke to the late Charles D. Mac and Lois (Hixson) McCullough, and was the first set of twins to be born in the new Bradford County Hospital of Starke. She had started her online business You Are Special Patterns which led into a second online business, The Olde Country Cupboard. Sandy was a professional crafter and enjoyed creating and sewing country dolls and patterns, and started the Facebook group, The Olde Country Cupboard Market Place. Sandy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Starke. Her survivors are her husband of 27 years, Todd Schmidt and their daughter Samantha Flanders along with her husband Chris and their daughter, Chloe all of Starke. Also surviving is Sandys twin sister, Cyndy Weeks her husband Arnold and their son David all of Keystone Heights, Todds parents, John and Verna Schmidt of Starke, two brothers in law, one sister in law, and six nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Moore officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions are being requested to be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2119 SW 16th St., Gainesville, FL 32608 or the American Red Cross, 1425 NW 6th St. Gainesville, FL 32601.
