Mrs. Sarah Ann Hallowell, 69, of Melrose passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Mrs. Hallowell had lived most of her life in Palatka and had moved to Melrose 25 years ago. She was born on Dec. 9, 1939 in Waycross, GA to the late Robert and Sarah (James) Gale. Mrs. Hallowell was a homemaker and also an Auxiliary member and past president of the Am Vets Post #86 in Keystone Heights. Her survivors include, a Daughter: Joyce Cordell, a son: Wendell (Angie) Lingerfelt all of Melrose. Brothers: Charles Gale (Anita) of St. Mary, GA; Jimmy Gale (Wonnie) of Midland City, AL; Bob Gale (Pam) Welaka, FL; Mike Gale of Georgetown, FL . Sisters: Susie Stephens (Ronnie) Chatsworth, GA; Melba Holliday of Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren: Sarah Wilkinson of Melrose; Veronica Barton (Bryan) of Starke; Kent Wilkinson of Melrose; Rachel Lingerfelt of Orlando. Great grandchildren: Jayden Goodman of Melrose and Jordan Barton of Starke, many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 3 pm at the Am vets post #86 in Keystone Heights. Burial will be at a later date.
