Mrs. Sarah Virginia Bryant Hesters age 76 of Keystone Heights passed away at her home Thursday, July 6, 2023. She was born September 27, 1946, in Moultrie, Georgia to Chester and Lola Mae (Byrd) Bryant. In 1966 Sarah met our father Charles L. Augustine Jr. when he was stationed in the Navy in Jacksonville, FL and she was at the time attending the University of Florida. Even though the marriage would only last 12 years or so, the result was three beautiful children. Sarah then met and married the love of her life J.C. Hesters and spent the next 40 plus years with him until his death in April 2022. We believe that she became heartbroken and lost because of his death causing a dramatic decline in her health. For most of her life, Sarah was an educator and a huge history buff with emphasis on the Antebellum South and tracing her Cherokee and Irish heritage. Our mom always told us that her last breath on earth would be her first breath in heaven with our brother, her son Matthew Wesley Augustine. He went before us all on February 23, 1986. In addition to her parents, she is now at peace as she joins her husbands Jake C. Hesters and Charles L. Augustine, Jr.; sister Peggy Elaine Bryant. She leaves behind daughters Victoria Augustine Saunders (John R.) of Hedgesville, WV and Jennifer Augustine Roman (Pete) of Windsor, VA; brother Charles Bryant (Kathy) of Moultrie, Georgia; two loved grandsons Wesley Dakota Saunders (Rachel) of Winchester, VA and Brennan Lee Turner of Windsor, VA. Also left behind is a niece April Thiebault (Lance) of Yulee, FL and a host of friends she has made over the years that will miss her dearly. We would like to express our sincerest appreciation to the Clay County Sheriffs Department for their unwavering support of our mother and her times of need. We would also like to thank Ms. Jada and her little boy next door for being a friend to our mother and bringing much needed light to her days when she may have been lost. Although most of our lives our relationship with our mother was tumultuous at best, but at the end of the day we never doubted her love for us and especially for that for our sons. Rest easy Mama, your daughters. There are no scheduled services at this time. Arrangements are by Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home 340 E Walker Dr., Keystone Heights, FL 32656.
