Sarah Frances Johnson of Melrose, FL, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, FL. She is predeceased by her husband John P. Johnson, Sr. (Jay), and survived by her children, Perliyn Moore of Keystone Heights (Husband Robert, deceased); Debra Berry of Melrose (Husband Edward); John Johnson, Jr. recently of Charlotte, NC (Wife June); Vicki Rhoads of Penn Run, PA (Husband Donald); and Edye Miller of Goldsboro, NC (Husband Larry, deceased); ten grandchildren (one deceased grandson), and nine (soon to be eleven) great-grandchildren. Sarah was born in Ridgely, TN and attended Sullins College, Bristol, TN, and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN. She and Jay married on February 27, 1944. Upon his discharge from the US Army, they relocated to Miami, FL where they raised their five children. Sarah retired from Miami Senior High School, Miami, FL, where she worked as a teachers aide. Upon their retirement, they moved to Melrose, FL. Sarah was raised in the Methodist Church and continued her faith throughout her life. She was a member of Keystone Heights United Methodist Church, Keystone Heights, FL. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, Sarah will be greatly missed. Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be will be 3:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 in the Jones-Gallagher Funeral Home Chapel with the viewing beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Keystone Heights Cemetery.Arrangements are under the care of JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME, 340 E.
