Sarah Louvenia (Mixon) McCants, lovingly known as "Mama Lou," passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026.

She was born on November 5, 1921, in Adel, Georgia, to the late Lewis Thomas Mixon and Mittie Frances (Lovett) Mixon. She lived a long and meaningful life, rooted in deep faith, love, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her faith in God was the foundation of her life, guiding her through both joyful and challenging times and serving as a constant source of strength, comfort, and grace.

She was a proud graduate of Lake Wales High School, Class of 1940.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Bennie T. McCants (2003), whom she married on July 1, 1946; her son, Robert McCants (2011); five brothers, Giddins Mixon, Etheridge "Pete" Mixon, John Gordon Mixon, L.T. Mixon, Jr., and Edward Mixon; and three sisters, Julia Thomas, Annie Mae Pitts, and Mary Frances Mixon.

Mama Lou leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters, Brenda (Gearld) Johnson and Donna (L.E.) Hewett. She was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren, a cherished great-grandmother to 20 great-grandchildren, and a beloved great-great-grandmother to 2. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A woman of strong faith and quiet dignity, Mama Lou found joy in caring for others and living a life that reflected her beliefs. She will be remembered for her kindness, her resilience, and the love she so freely gave. Her legacy of faith, strength, and devotion will continue to live on in all who knew and loved her.
