Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Torode 88, of Kingsley Lake passed away on Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Windsor Manor Nursing Home in Starke. She was born on August 11, 1923 to the late Charles William and Minie (Mitchell) Poythress, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Torode has been a longtime resident of the area and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Starke where she was a member of the Womens Circle and taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Torode was also a past member of the Jr. Womans Club and the Womans Club of Starke. She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. John A. Torode in 2001. Survivors are his children: Sally Torode of Jacksonville, John Torode (Tracy), and Richard Torode all of Starke, and Carl Torode (Christie) of Kingsley Lake. She is also survived by her sister, Luta Kilgo of MacClenny, grandchildren, Megan, Mary, Shelley, Amanda, Shauna, and one great grandson, Ryker Sean Welch. Viewing for Mrs. Torode will be held in the DeWitt C. Jones Chapel on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Sept. 8, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the First United Methodist Church of Starke with Pastor Mike Moore officiating.
