On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Parecia "Shan" Edwards passed away peacefully with her children by her side, after battling dementia. Shan was a beloved teacher and administrator for thirty years and touched the lives of so many middle schoolers through her sharp wit and dry sense of humor. She was Pine Mountain Middle School Teacher of the Year, a cheerleading coach, a member of the Miss Florida Pageant Board as a Regional Director, and coached many young women through the pageant system including Miss America Leanza Cornett. Shan loved reading, especially her daily devotionals, and was an extremely talented piano player. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Shan was a wonderful mother and GaGa leaving behind two daughters, Parecia Leigh Johns (Melrose, FL) and Brittany Johns (Milford, OH); three grandchildren, Micah Wright, Paecyn DeGuzman, and Charley Johns; along with two great-grandchildren, Silas and Kenji Wright; and her sister and brother-in-law, Rhonda and Brian Pulling (Lakeland, FL). She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Velmarie (Dukes) Edwards and her granddaughter, Elin DeGuzman. The family will receive friends at the DeWitt C. Johns Chapel on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm with memorial services beginning at 5:30 pm. Interment will be private at Crosby Lake Cemetery.
