Sharon Lee Wilson Crosby, 74, died at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville (FL) on April 24, 2014. She lost her three-year fight with cancer.Mrs. Crosby was born August 4, 1939 in Everett, Washington to Philip Breathwaite and Vyvetta Veronica Scantland Wilson. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle in 1957 and attended the University of Washington. An accomplished vocalist, she was featured in various lead soprano roles with Seattle's Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta Society. Moving to Florida in 1967, she relocated to Gainesville with her family in 1976.Mrs. Crosby began working at the University of Florida shortly upon moving to Gainesville, serving as an Office Coordinator for the Industrial Systems area of the College of Engineering until her retirement. Her friends described her as a happy and jubilant person with an infectious smile. She enjoyed playing Bridge, practicing yoga and pilates, reading mysteries, baking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.She is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Rees G. Crosby; children, Linda R. Moorhouse of Urbana, Illinois; John (Sandra) Moorhouse of Gainesville; Carol Lee Moorhouse Fitzgerald of Gainesville; Rees G. (Colleen) Crosby II of Tampa; grandchildren, Makinsy Fitzgerald, Evan Moorhouse, Annalise Crosby, Keane Crosby; and brother Robert I. (Susan) Wilson of Gainesville.Mrs. Crosby will be inurned at the Forest Meadows Memorial Park Mausoleum in a private ceremony on May 3, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in the name of Sharon Lee Crosby.
