Obituary

Sharon Andrews Peterson, age 80, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2021. A Jacksonville native, she was born on July 7, 1941 to Howell and Louise Andrews. She was a graduate of Landon High School, class of 1959, and later worked for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and FBI. She was a member of Central Baptist Church and later Southside Baptist Church. Sharon loved to play the piano for worship services, Sunday School classes, and in her leisure time. She appreciated all types of music. She was an active member of the PTA and Band Boosters of her children's schools, and she relished her role as a stay-at-home mother. Sharon loved to bake and cook for her family, and she truly enjoyed the holidays and decorating for them. Vacations with her family to the Great Smoky Mountains, New England, the lakes of Keystone Heights, and Walt Disney World brought her much joy and happiness.Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ken Peterson; her daughter Kimberly Sheppard (Scott); her son Michael Peterson (Mark); grandchildren Hannah Sheppard, Sean and Liam Peterson; her brother Clyde "Billy" Andrews (Suzanne); two sisters-in-law, Andrea Jane Andrews and Becky Hutson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousinsall who referred to her affectionately as "Cherry."A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Southside Baptist Church, 1435 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM on Thursday, November 4 at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd. S., under whom arrangements have been made.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society..Receiving FriendsGeorge H.
