Obituary

Sharon Lynn Shaw, 79, passed away peacefully in her home on July 24, 2024, in Keystone Heights, FL. A Memorial Service will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church in Melrose, FL, on August 5, 2024, at 11:00am with Glenn Dickson officiating. Sharon was born in Birmingham, AL, to William Bailey and Willie Cole Gilreath Bailey on July 3, 1945. She attended Opelika High School in Alabama and graduated in 1963. She met the love of her life, Lawson, and married on June 13, 1964. While raising two children and working full time, she earned a Bachelor of Science In Psychology with High Honors from Auburn University. With a thirst for knowledge, she went on to earn a Master of Science in Psychology from Auburn University on December 17, 1985. She worked for several medical offices and at Shands UF as a transcriptionist, business manager, and certified medical coder. Her favorite hobbies included reading, especially Stephen King, knitting baby blankets, and playing trivia and radio games, which won her several free vacations for herself and her husband. Sharon is preceded in death by her father, William Bailey, and her mother, Willie Cole Gilreath Bailey. She is survived by her husband, Lawson Shaw, two sisters, Peggy and Terry, her son, Turner Shaw, her daughter, Karen Knudson (Michael); six grandchildren, Hunter Shaw, Kaitie Arters, Todd Peacock, Taylor Shaw, Makenzie Knudson and Miranda Knudson; and three great grandchildren.
