Mr. Sherwin W. "Bill" Carter 83 of Keystone Heights passed away at his home, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 19, 1938, in Jasper, FL to Claude and Mae (Dempsey) Carter. Mr. Carter earned his Bachelors Degree from Illinois State University and honorably served 14 years in the Florida National Guard at Camp Blanding. His 42 year-long career began working in the mail room for State Farm Insurance and working his way to retiring as their Computer Analyst. Mr. Carter had been a longtime resident of Keystone Heights and member of the First Baptist Church; he enjoyed traveling to the mountains and golfing, but most of all he loved and took care of his family. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sister Claudette. Mr. Carter leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 62 wonderful years Barbara Anne (Parks) Carter of Keystone Heights and their three children Sheri Tyer (Tom) of Lake City, Angelia Marie Preston (Will) of Merritt Island and Douglas William Carter (Britney) of Keystone Heights along with a sister Ann Carter of High Springs. He was also lovingly called "Papee" by Tanner Tyer, Ryan Preston, Andrew Preston, Hayleigh Carter and Rhiannon Rios. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 4, 2022, beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church. Funeral services will being at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Tom Tyer and Pastor Daniel Findley officiating. Interment will follow at the Keystone Heights Cemetery.
