Mrs. Shirley Brannan Arpen, age 78, of Melrose passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Gainesville from injuries she had sustained in automobile accident. She was born in Live Oak on November 12, 1937 to the late James Clyde and Mae Dell (Hingson) Brannan. Mrs. Arpen was a 1955 graduate of Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville and had retired from the banking industry. In 2001, she moved to Melrose from Jacksonville and was a member of Keystone United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening and dancing. Mrs. Arpens sister, Jeanette Rouse had preceded her in death. Her survivors are her husband of 14 years, Johnny Arpen; four children, Karen Jones (Larry) of Jacksonville, Barry Warren of Orange Park, Danny Warren (Gail) Lake Asbury, and Larry Warren of Irving, Texas; three siblings, Jean Carroll and Jimmy Brannan both of Jacksonville and Libby Manning (Gene) of New Smyrna Beach. Also left behind are eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren along with Johnnys children and grandchildren. A memorial service for Mrs. Arpen will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2016 in the Keystone United Methodist Church with Dr. Tom Farmer and Dr. Craig Moore officiating.
