Shirley Carpenter Reddish

Shirley Ann Carpenter Reddish age 81, of Keystone Heights died peacefully July 22, 2016 at Haven Hospice, Roberts Care Center Palatka. She was born in Jacksonville on May 24, 1935 to the late Dwight Whitney and Marjorie (Vickery) Carpenter of Santa Fe Lake. She moved to Starke in the 11th grade and upon her graduation from Bradford High School, she began working as a secretary for Judge George L. Patton. Later, her career path lead to many years of service in the Bradford County School District. In 1979, she moved to Crescent Beach, at that time she completed the Police Standards Course. Shirley then went to work as an Investigator with the St. Johns County Sherriffs Office. A few years later she received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of North Florida and worked for the State of Florida as a Health Inspector. Shirley was a member of Keystone United Methodist Church, Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, and the NRA. She enjoyed music, reading and traveling. Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Mark "Chunky" Whitney Reddish of Starke. Her survivors are her son, Gregory D. Reddish of Orlando and her daughter, Karen "Sissy" Marjorie Reddish of Satsuma.; five grandchildren; Kristin Whitney Beck (Jeff) of East Palatka, Georgia Reddish of Starke, Jonathan D. Reddish (Angela) of Orlando, Jojo Reddish Ames (Mitch) of Starke and Chase A. Reddish of Orlando. Also left behind are five great grandchildren, Jeffrey Clayton Beck and Christian Briar Beck of East Palatka, Madelyn Ames of Starke, Aubrey Garnet Reddish of Orlando and Major Whitney Ames of Starke. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016 in the Keystone United Methodist Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Crosby Lake Cemetery in Starke.
