Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Claire Saunders, 85, widow of Vernon A. Saunders, Sr., will be held at 10:00a.m. Saturday, January 18th, in the chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South, with Deacon Chuck Patterson of Assumption Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, from 7:00p.m. till 9:00p.m. on Friday.Born August 20, 1934 in Jacksonville, Florida to Sedonia and George Coffrin, Mrs. Saunders died Sunday, January 12, 2020 in Jacksonville. She was a retired Bookkeeper from Transamerica Financial. Mrs. Saunders was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, the Jacksonville Womans Club and loved to play Bingo.She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Paul Saunders.
