Mrs. Shirley May York age 68, of Starke passed away at her home, Friday,January 5, 2018. She was born in Hayti, Missouri on July 14, 1949 to thelate Robert "Bobby" and Katherine (Ottinger) James. Shirley has been along time resident of Starke and the proud owner of the Red Dog Saloon forover two decades. Shirley's primary passion and her world was hergrandson, Richard Shaffer III (Little Richard) and her family. She lovedtalking and cutting up with the patrons of the Red Dog who were thought ofnot only as friends, but family over the years. Her husband of 33 years,Doug York had preceded her in death along with her daughter in-law, LindaLawhorn and a great grandson. Survivors are two daughters, Melissa Shaffer(Wallace Black) of Hampton, Veronica York (Jeremy Beuhn) of Indiana; twosons, Richard Shaffer of Starke and Michael York of Indiana; onebrother, Burley James (Doris) of Hampton. Also left behind are twelvegrandchildren, Lil Richard, Jeffery, Courtney, Devin, Paul, Colter,Marshal, Danielle, Brianna, Michelle, Ryder and Race along with seven greatgrandchildren. The family will receive friends in the DeWitt C. JonesChapel, Tuesday, January 9, 2018 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with services tofollow at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Steve Conner will be officiating.
