Listen to Obituary
With great sacrifice, we give to GOD, our Songbird, our Heart, our Wife, Momma and Sister, Sonja Dianne Hughes who fought and lost her courageous battle on August 10, 2021, following a short term illness. Dianne was born on January 8th, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Edward and Delores Mobley and later joined by her beautiful sister, Barbara and handsome brother Wayne. These three had a strong loving and inseparable bond, so strong that they spent a majority of their lives, living "just down the road" from each other. Dianne attended school in Bradford County, where she met the love of her life, Lem "Buster" Hughes and married him September 17, 1962. Their love created 4 daughters, instilling strength, love and compassion in each of them and passing each of these attributes to her grand and great grandchildren. Her HUGS were cherished by all who knew her. To quote a recent statement, "The HUG. You know the one I mean Family. The one that pulled you in tight and reached straight to your soul. The one that ended with a kiss and lifted you up when she said, "I love you" with that little bit of sass and that big, wonderful smile. The HUG that left the recipient with no doubt whatsoever that she saw you and you were loved. The HUG that expressed who she was in the simplest way possible. No strings, no conditions, no requirements, just LOVE. " She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Delores Mobley. Parents in-law, Carl and Ida Lee Brown and her granddaughter, Tonya Starling. She is survived by her Husband of 59 years, Lem "Buster" Hughes. Children: Stacie (Willie) Ansley-Jones, Stefanie (Marcos) Ivey, Shannon Hughes, Jaimee (Lynn) Starling, Shawn Nettles, Fernando (Fannie) Breder. Siblings- Barbara Slover, Shirley Mobley, Wayne (Terrie) Mobley including all her much-loved nieces and nephews. She was "Mema" to many. Grandchildren: Brittani (Joey) Nettles, Ariel (Bryan) Weis, Hunter Hughes, Shaleigh Peterson, Cameron (Jensie) Hughes, Shonni Ansley, Jalin Ansley, Omarion Hughes, Marcos Ivey Jr, Carly Ivey, Victor (Karinna) Luiz, Julia Barreto and Santiago Breder. Great-grandchildren: Jezhari, "RJ" (Reece Jr) and unborn sister, Harmoni, Karmen, Antonio, Azzir, Azzari, Aleirah, Darynn, Luna, Ashtyn, Jhett, Soraya, Joziah, Kordell, Alexyia, Brandon Jr, Neveah, Amaya, Blaze, Natalia, Sophia, Joshua and Luna. There will be no burial service as our Momma wished to return to the dust of the earth from which she came. A Memorial Service to Honor her and her absolute Faith in GOD, will be held at a later date to await her family, friends and Church family to return to better health. With Heartfelt thanks, Always, her Children and Family. Arrangements are by JONES-GALLAGHER FUNERAL HOME OF STARKE 904-964-6200 www.jonesgallagherfh.com.
