Stella Iona Dampier, 87, of Waldo, passed away at home on Friday, November 9, 2012. Stella was born in Auburndale, FL and has been a lifelong resident of this area.Stella was a homemaker for many years until she went to work as an attendance officer for the Alachua County Schools. She enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her family, taught Sunday school all her life and was very interested in genealogy, becoming the Dampier family historian, having her book placed in the Library of Congress.Stella was predeceased by her husband Rubin Dampier, Son Rusty Dampier and a Daughter Gene Bellwood. She is survived by Sons, Cress Dampier(Lavon) of Georgia, Nick Dampier(Diane) of Waldo, Paul Dampier(Loretta) of Hawthorne, Daughters, Joan Ridgell(Gary) and Pearl Hess(Joe) both of Hawthorne, 25 Grandchildren and many Great and Great-Great Grandchildren.Funeral Services for Mrs. Dampier are scheduled for Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 1:00pm at Lighthouse Global Ministries Church, Hwy 301 South, Waldo, FLwith Pastor Woody Miller conducting the service. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Forest Meadows Memorial Park East on Hawthorne Road in Gainesville.
